About this game

“Treasure of Dinosaur Valley,” made for kids ages 7 to 10, turns your backyard, a park, or a room in the house into a hidden valley where gentle dinosaurs still live, far from the rest of the world. A paleontologist buried her best treasure there before heading home, and she left five clues for anyone clever enough to read them: match a footprint to the right dinosaur, put the eggs in a nest in order from smallest to biggest, follow the leaf trail a brachiosaurus leaves while it munches, find the fossil missing from a skeleton, and work out which dinosaur eats what. Every challenge mixes sharp eyes, logic, and a little moving around, and none of them asks anyone to read a long passage. The book already includes every card and board to cut out, the steps are laid out one at a time, and the game works just as well for a handful of kids as for a big crowd around the party table. There is nothing to improvise on game day: hide the clues and start the adventure. Every dinosaur in the book is kind and curious, and nothing in it is scary. The guide also offers hiding-spot ideas, backup hints, and an easier version for younger players. Each player earns a Junior Paleontologist badge at the end of the quest.
