About this game

“The Pirates’ Treasure,” made for kids ages 7 to 10, turns your house or backyard into a pirate hideout for a birthday party or an adventurous afternoon. Old Captain Redbeard hid his fortune before setting sail one last time, leaving only a torn map in several pieces, each guarded by its own challenge. The kids set out after him and solve a string of simple, fun puzzles: spot the mystery flag, crack a coded message, put a map back together. Every riddle solved brings the crew closer to the treasure, and the last piece of the puzzle finally gives away its hiding place. Everything is planned so the grown-up can relax: the book already includes every card and board to cut out, the steps are laid out one at a time, and the game works just as well for a handful of kids as for a big crowd around the party table. There is nothing to improvise on game day: hide the pieces, start the game, and let the crew sail on to the chest. Five challenges carry the quest, each one short enough to hold the attention of the youngest players, with sharp eyes, logic, memory, and a little miming taking turns. The guide also offers hiding-spot ideas and backup hints for any crew that gets stuck.
