About this game

“On the Trail of the Pirates,” made for kids ages 6 to 9, turns a backyard, a park, or a living room into a beach where a pirate crew supposedly came ashore overnight. Five signs spread along the course, such as a boot print in the sand, a scrap of sail caught on a branch, and a gold coin dropped along the way, guide the kids to the hiding place where the crew left a little reward. Each stop teaches kids to notice one simple detail: a shape, a color, a direction to follow. It is a clue trail made for moving, observing, and marveling while you walk, without ever going in circles: every sign points clearly to the next. The book includes the sign cards, an explorer’s journal to fill in, and a guide for the grown-up who goes along with the group. It is perfect for a birthday party, a rainy afternoon, or an outing to the park, ending with a final discovery that rewards the whole crew of little deckhands. Five signs set the pace of the course, each simple enough for the youngest in the group to follow. The guide also offers options for different play areas and a shorter version that suits the youngest groups.
